The Shutdown Story
When the county shut us down,
the community showed up.
In June 2025, Warren County placed Farm on Central under a temporary restraining order, accusing us of operating a retail food establishment without a license. We'd been serving our community for five years as a PMA (Private Membership Association) with zero illness complaints or recalls—but overnight, we were ordered to stop selling.
The next morning, we gave away thousands of dollars of perishables to hundreds of people who showed up at the farm. The community didn't scatter—they rallied. WDTN, Fox 19, and ABC 22 all covered the story. Letters poured in. People stood in our driveway just to show support.
We settled with Warren County in July, agreed to licensure as a level 1 food establishment, invested $20,000 to connect to city water, and reopened. Farm on Central now serves 400-500 customers a week. But the experience was a wild rollercoaster—and it's why we built ourpmastory.com to document what we learned about food freedom and the danger of PMAs.
